Three days of razor clam digging have been approved and will begin on April 6. Be sure to pay attention to the official tide times and beach locations.

And, it’s time to renew your annual license. 2018-2019 annual licenses will NOT be valid for this upcoming approved dig. The new 2019-2020 licenses are available.

The official press release announcing the approved digs by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is on the agency’s website. And don’t forget, this approved dig was only made available to the public because of the hard work that state shellfish managers put in, plus the watchful eye of the Department of Health that conducts the marine toxin tests to ensure clams are safe to eat.

Upcoming digs are scheduled on the following dates, beaches and low tides:

Switch to a.m. tides, no digging is allowed after noon:

• April 6, Saturday, 8:05 a.m.; 0.3 feet; Twin Harbors, Mocrocks

• April 7, Sunday, 8:42 a.m.; 0.1 feet; Twin Harbors, Mocrocks

• April 8, Monday, 9:20 a.m.; 0.0 feet; Mocrocks

The DAILY LIMIT per person is 15 clams, no matter what condition they are in, once removed from the sand. That limit is subject to change. Always check with official sources if you have any questions. Digging AFTER Noon during the Spring Season on the approved days is not allowed. All diggers age 15 or older must have an applicable fishing license to harvest razor clams on any beach. And, each digger must keep their razor clams in a separate container. Don’t mix your clams. Licenses, ranging from a three-day razor clam license to an annual combination fishing license, are available from license vendors around the state and WDFW’s licensing customer service number at (360) 902-2464.

• March 23, Saturday, 9:01 a.m.; -0.3 feet; Twin Harbors, Copalis, Kalaloch
• March 24, Sunday, 9:49 a.m.; -0.3 feet; Twin Harbors, Mocrocks, Kalaloch

According to a verbal report we received from WDFW, the clam digging was mind blowing, with thousands of happy clammers quickly getting their limits.

Epic weather predicted for the 13th Annual Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival. The festival is on this Saturday and Sunday. Get out to the beach and have some fun!

As previously announced, March 16 & 17 is the 13th Annual Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival. AND two days of razor clam digging have been approved that luckily coincide with the festival. Come to the festival, visit with the Razor Clam Society, and go digs some clams!
