2017-2018 Razor Clam Season Final Four

According to a press release from Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), State shellfish managers have approved four days of digs after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat.

The approved digs will begin on Thursday, April 19 and run through Sunday April 22.

The Long Beach digs coincide with the annual Long Beach Razor Clam Festival.

Be sure to check the Beach Map to ensure you are on the approved Beach.

For the first two days of the dig, digging must be completed by noon. The final two days, when low tides occur close to noon, digging times will be extended.

Upcoming digs are scheduled on the following dates, beaches and low tides:

  • April 19, Thursday9:46 a.m.; -0.9 feet; Mocrocks
  • April 20, Friday, 10:37 a.m.; -0.7 feet; Mocrocks

  • April 22Sunday12:38 p.m.; -0.1 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks (digging hours will be extended to 2 p.m.)

The DAILY LIMIT per person is 15 clams, no matter what condition they are in, once removed from the sand. That limit is subject to change. Always check with official sources if you have any questions. Digging prior to Noon during the Fall-Winter Season on the approved days is not allowed. All diggers age 15 or older must have an applicable fishing license to harvest razor clams on any beach. And, each digger must keep their razor clams in a separate container. Don’t mix your clams. Licenses, ranging from a three-day razor clam license to an annual combination fishing license, are available from license vendors around the state and WDFW’s licensing customer service number at (360) 902-2464.

  1. I recently supported the RCS at the Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival and signed the petition to support the interest in the Razor Clam license plate. I was wondering it I am able to help secure petition signatures and was hoping you could send me a sheet or two to help obtain supporters. I am a part time residence in Ocean Shores but live in the Lynnwood area and know of several people who would like to sign the petition. As well I have a large group of friends in Ocean Shores known as the clam clan that would also sign. Lets get this petition moving as I am so in need of a razor clam license plate.
